For his new single ‘Levada’, German beat guru FloFilz brings in UK Jazz/Hip-Hop multi-instrumentalist trio Dal. Inspired by the likes of J Dilla, D’Angelo, Robert Glasper and BadBadNotGood, Dal make music that sits somewhere in between Check Your Head Era Beastie Boys and Third Era Portishead. ‘Levada’ is the third single off FloFilz’s upcoming album ‘Close Distance’ that will be released on April 8th.

‘Close Distance’ literally means “near in space or time” (or “nah dran”, as we say in German). The 16 songs on ‘Close Distance’ came to life over the past two turbulent years. It is no exaggeration to say that FloFilz has not only created another inspiring album with ‘Close Distance’ but one that demonstrates how music can close the distance which we all have experienced (and still do) in a beautiful way. With features by UK Jazz supremos Alfa Mist and Blue Lab Beats, London R&B artists Jerome Thomas and KeepVibesNear, long-term musical partners Summers Sons & C.Tappin, UK Jazz/Hip-Hop trio Dal & Cape Town Neo-Soul singer and songwriter Hunter Rose. ‘Close Distance’ will be released digitally and on LP with artwork by Indonesian illustrator Fatchurofi.

Exposed to music from a young age, FloFilz grew up in Belgium before moving to Aachen, Germany where he studied the violin and classical music, while also playing in orchestras. In addition to his parents, who were both musicians, he cites Hip-Hop icons A Tribe Called Quest, J Dilla and Madlib as key influences. Recognised as one of Germany’s most in-demand producers, the self-taught bedroom beatmaker has built his reputation led by his seductive blend of Lo-Fi, Soul and Jazz-influenced groves. Taking great inspiration from London's Jazz scene he has previously collaborated with the likes of MF DOOM, Alfa Mist, Barney Artist, Ivan Ave, Blu, JuJu Rogers, Biig Piig, K.A.A.N., J.Lamotta and K, Le Maestro.
